東洋大学では社会教育や生涯学習の広範な普及を目指し、全国各地で講演する「全国巡講」を行った創立者・井上円了の精神を受け継ぎ、一般の方を対象とした学びの場を提供しています。
公開講座等では、没後100周年記念講座として井上円了に関すること、源氏物語や万葉集などの古典、明智光秀、高齢化社会における医療制度、キャリアデザインなど、幅広い世代に関心のあるテーマを取り扱い、春期と秋期に計49講座（うち2講座は台風のため中止）を開講しました。
全国各地で講演を行う講師派遣事業では、生涯学習支援、研修支援、オリンピック・パラリンピック学習支援など18領域500以上の講演テーマを設定。2019年度は95回の派遣を行いました。
公開講座、講師派遣事業とも、本学の擁する幅広い学問系統と深い専門性を講義として届けています。
Handing down the spirit of its founder Enryo Inoue, who made grand nationwide lecture tours, Toyo University provides the general public with a wide range of opportunities for learning, aiming to widely disseminate social education and lifelong learning.
In the AY2019 spring and fall semesters, the University offered a total of 49 extension courses (two of which were cancelled due to thetyphoon), including one on the founder Enryo Inoue designed to commemorate the centenary of his death; courses on the classics such as the Tale of Genji and the Man’yoshu; and other courses on themes that appeal to a wide range of generations, such as Akechi Mitsuhide, the medical system in an aged society, and career design.
The University also sends instructors around Japan to give lectures on over 500 themes in 18 fields, such as lifelong learning support, staff training support, and learning support for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. In AY2019, the University sent instructors to give 95 lectures nationwide.
Both the offering of extension courses and the program for sending instructors nationwide have helped to impart the deep specialized knowledge that the University has accumulated so far in a wide range of disciplines.
