H. E. Mr. Rumen Radev, President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Delivers Special Lecture and Receives Honorary Doctorate

Toyo University has international partnership agreements with Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski and the Technological University of Sofia in the Republic of Bulgaria. Extolling the great importance of these partnerships, the University invited H. E. Mr. Rumen Radev, President of the Republic of Bulgaria, who visited Japan to attend the Japanese Emperor’s enthronement ceremony, to give a special lecture at the 125 Memorial Hall at the Hakusan Campus on October 23, 2019. President Radev, with a PhD in Military Sciences and a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies, had previously assumed a number of important positions, including Commander of the Bulgarian Air Force, before he was inaugurated as Bulgarian President in 2017. With about 300 students attending the lecture, President Radev expressed his views on the current state of Bulgaria and global society, and considerately answered students’ questions based on his own experience and knowledge. After the lecture, Toyo University President Makio Takemura awarded a Toyo University honorary doctorate to the Bulgarian President in full recognition of his immense contribution to international exchange with the University.
