学校法人東洋大学は、東洋大学のほかに「東洋大学附属姫路中学校・高等学校」「東洋大学附属牛久中学校・高等学校」「東洋大学京北中学高等学校」の3つの附属中学校・高等学校と「京北幼稚園」を設置しています。各附属校・設置校では、多彩な学問分野を擁する総合大学である東洋大学と連携した教育活動を展開しており、総合学園としてのメリットを最大限に活かしています。

例えば、東洋大学京北中学高等学校では「未来の科学者育成プロジェクト」が、2019年７月から2020年3月にかけて行われました。これは、板倉キャンパスの生命科学部・研究科、食環境科学部・研究科の教員・大学院生・大学生が、東洋大学京北中学高等学校の中学3年生に対し、放課後に開講する連携講座です。身近な疑問を研究テーマとして設定し、少人数のチームで課題の発見、実験実習による検証、成果発表に至るまで継続的な指導を行います。

このプロジェクトでは、2017年に改訂された新学習指導要領で重視される「思考力・判断力・表現力」の育成に主眼を置き、科学的に探究する学習活動を通して、「主体的・対話的な深い学び（アクティブ・ラーニング）」を目指しました。中高一貫教育は、高校受験に縛られることなく課題研究の時間を確保できるため、より質の高い学びの機会創出につながります。今後、さらに研究を深めたいという生徒を中心に、このプロジェクトを継続していく予定です。

The Toyo University Incorporated Educational Institution runs three junior and senior high schools—Toyo University Himeji Junior and Senior High School, Toyo University Ushiku Junior and Senior High School, and Toyo University Keihoku Junior and Senior High School—as well as Keihoku Kindergarten, in addition to the University. These schools conduct educational activities in collaboration with Toyo University, a multidisciplinary university that employs experts in a wide variety of academic disciplines, taking full advantage of the strengths of a general educational institution.

For example, from July 2019 to March 2020, Toyo University Keihoku Junior and Senior High School implemented a Future Scientist Project, where instructors in addition to graduate and undergraduate students at the Faculty of Life Sciences and the Faculty of Food and Nutritional Sciences at the Toyo University Itakura Campus collaborated with the High School in offering after-school science classes to third-year junior high school students. The classes were aimed at guiding the students to explore research themes they selected from their daily-life questions in the continuous process of identifying challenges in small groups, verifying facts through experiments and practicums, and presenting their research results.

The project was designed to enable students’ active learning through scientific exploration, focusing on increasing their “ability to think, make decisions, and express themselves”—concepts on which the new Course of Study, revised in 2017, places high importance. Integrated junior and senior high school education helps students to allocate enough time to their own initiatives to take on challenges without concern about senior high school entrance exams, providing them with opportunities for higher-quality learning. The project will be continued mainly to support students who wish to further deepen their research.

ほかにも、東洋大学附属姫路中学校・高等学校で東洋大学バイオ・ナノエレクトロニクス研究センターの支援を受けたプログラムを、東洋大学附属牛久中学校・高等学校と東洋大学京北中学高等学校が国際観光学部と連携し合同ワークショップを実施するなど、附属校としての特色を活かした教育活動を展開しています。

Other educational programs are also underway through taking advantage of the characteristics of schools attached to the University, for example, a program implemented at Toyo University Himeji Junior and Senior High School with support from the Toyo University Bio-Nano Electronics Research Center, and a joint workshop held by Toyo University Ushiku Junior and Senior High School and Toyo University Keihoku Junior and Senior High School in collaboration with the Faculty of International Tourism Management, Toyo University.
