In preparation for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Toyo University has devoted positive efforts to capability development, academic research, and social collaboration, based on the TOYO SPORTS VISION, with the key principle of “Exploring sports from a philosophical perspective to unite people, society and the world.”

As a part of such efforts, Toyo University holds lectures and symposiums. On December 5, 2019, the University held a symposium for the ‘Week for Persons with Disabilities’ entitled “Have you heard of Unified Sports®?” with the participation Ms. Yuko Arimori, the board chairperson of Special Olympics Nippon Foundation. And on December 11, the AY2019 sports symposium, “Philosophize about Sports TOYO SPORTS VISION ,” featured lectures on countermeasures against the heat, athletes’ mental health, and accessibility of the Olympic and Paralympic venues.

The University also held various hands-on experience events on campus focusing on Olympic sports including rugby and Paralympic sports including boccia, blind marathon and blind football. These events helped to share the charms and social significance of sports with many visitors.
