1961年に川越キャンパスに設置された工学部は、高度経済成長を背景に、日本初の産学協同の理念を掲げて教育研究に取り組んできました。2009年には現在の理工学部と総合情報学部に再編し、2019年度に開設10周年を迎えました。この10年、理工学部ではバイオテクノロジーやロボティクスなどの新分野への取り組みにより理工系としての教育研究の魅力を高め、総合情報学部では文系と理系の融合という斬新なコンセプトに基づき、第一級の情報の創り手・使い手の育成を行いました。
今後は地域連携を重視する今までの施策に加えて、地球規模の課題解決や国境を越えた協働を見据えて国際連携もさらに強化していきます。そして、自然豊かで世界に誇れる川越キャンパスを、優れた人材育成の拠点として一層充実させていきます。

The Faculty of Engineering, established at the Kawagoe Campus in 1961, pursues education and research as Japan’s first educational institution embracing the principle of industry–academia partnerships, against the backdrop of the country’s rapid economic growth. In 2009, the faculty was reorganized into the current Faculties of Science and Engineering, and Information Sciences and Arts, which marked the 10th anniversary of their establishment in AY2019. During that decade, the Faculty of Science and Engineering increased the attractiveness of scientific education and research by exploring new frontiers, including biotechnology and robotics. The Faculty of Information Sciences and Arts has fostered top-class creators and users of information based on the novel concept of integrating science and the humanities.
Going forward, the two faculties will devote further energy toward fostering international collaboration in solving global issues beyond national borders, in addition to regional collaboration as a focus of their efforts to date, and further upgrade the Kawagoe Campus to a world-class talent development hub in a rich natural environment.
