Recently, diversified and individualized needs for student support have urgently required further enhancement also closer partnerships and collaboration between relevant in-house sections. To strengthen partnerships between the Health Center, Student Counselling Office, and Barrier-Free Promotion Office at the Hakusan Campus, a Wellness Center was established in October 2018. The term “wellness” means “A state of being willing and able to take measures to enhance your own health in order to lead an active life.” The Wellness Center contains a Health Consultation Office, which supports students’ mental and physical health, and a Student Counselling Office, which offers counselling and arranges for a better learning environment. The former Barrier-Free Promotion Office was developed into a Peer Support Room, which responds to students’ requests for advice concerning campus life and supports students with disabilities. The Wellness Center has a sufficient number of expert staff members, who provide student support in partnership and collaboration with the campuses.

Furthermore, in July 2018, Toyo University issued a Declaration on the Eradication of Harassment based on the principle that respect for personal dignity and fundamental human rights is the most basic rule for social life. Under this declaration, in October 2018, the University established a Harassment Consultation Office where professional counsellors are always stationed. Toyo University makes determined efforts to create a favorable environment for all individuals affiliated with the University to deepen their understanding of harassment, respect the others, and study, work or engage in education and research comfortably at the University while ensuring that harassment of others does not occur.
