Toyo University promotes projects supporting regional revitalization in which its students and faculty members work together with local residents towards solving issues in the respective regions. In AY 2021, despite various restrictions on their activities due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, ten projects were selected, and five of them were implemented. Based on unique themes, such as a project for promoting food culture in Fujinomiya City with the aim of solving issues in developing this tourism-oriented city, and an activity for promoting interaction with local elderly people by conducting remote health exercise classes, they conducted on-site surveys and interviews and debriefing sessions. By connecting our students with these regions, we are creating opportunities to solve their issues. We will continue to make university-wide efforts to address various issues in the respective regions such as depopulation and the aging population.
