We held the symposium to commemorate the enactment of the Toyo University Incorporated Educational Institution Charter of Conduct for SDGs, "SDGs Action 2021"
To commemorate the enactment of the Charter, we held an online symposium on Saturday, June 19, 2021.
At Toyo University, we are positioning 2021—the year we enacted the Charter of Conduct—, as "A Year for Action on SDGs." That is why we had people working with an actual awareness of SDGs take the stage at the symposium, which was held under the theme, "Action."
In the first half, following a lecture by President Etsuko Yaguchi and a keynote speech by Mamiko Takahashi, Editor-in-Chief of Asahi Shimbun's "SDGs ACTION!," three teams reported on their activities under the theme of "My Actions." (Shunta Igarashi, President and CEO of With The World, Inc., Faculty of Economics graduate; Hidetoshi Kitawaki, Director of the Center for Sustainable Development Studies; Representatives of the Toyo University student association TIPS, Mayu Shiozawa, Faculty of Global and Regional Studies, 3rd year, and Na Young-Joo, Faculty of Global and Regional Studies, 4th year.) In the panel discussion of the second half, the results of the "SDGs Awareness Survey" for Toyo University students were announced by the Director of the Center for Social Contribution, Akemi Morita, who served as facilitator. Based on the results, there was a lively exchange of opinions on what kind of actions individuals should take in order to achieve the SDGs.
