トップグローバル奨学生のその後

東洋トップグローバル奨学金は、本学の国際化を促進し、世界のリーダーを輩出することを目的に2017年4月入学生から開始され、2021年9月入学生を最後に終了しました。この奨学金を受給し、卒業した学生は総勢179名(さらに2024年度秋学期25名卒業予定)。国際化の最中にあった本学で過ごした4年間の思い出や、卒業後から現在に至るまで、卒業生に聞きました。

Q1　卒業後はどのような仕事をされていますか?

卒業後、ブルガリアでプロダクトマネジメント・デザインおよび教育に従事。
建設、医療、パラミリタリー分野の製品やSaaS プラットフォームの設計・製造を手がけました。
また、ブルガリアや日本で子ども向けテック教育や競技数学の指導経験があり、数学書も執筆。
2024年9月、教育学(コンピュータサイエンス)修士号取得後、ブリティッシュ・インターナショナルスクール「CLASSIC」で戦略・技術責任者兼 IB コンピュータサイエンス講師として勤務。新キャンパスの建設に尽力しながら教育活動に専念しています。

Q2　東洋大学での学びや経験は現在のキャリアにどのように役立っていますか?

東洋大学在学中に国際的な環境で学んだ経験は、インターナショナルスクールでの仕事に大いに役立っています。INIADのビジネス、エンジニアリング、デザイン、シビルエンジニアリングの学びは、製品設計、IoT、教育、マネジメントなど幅広い分野で日々活用しています。現在の職務では、新キャンパス建設において建築、施工計画、ネットワークやIoT整備、コスト管理に携わり、INIAD での学びを統合していると感じます。
また、コンピュータサイエンスの授業では、学んだ知識を基に、技術分野の広い視野を学生に提供できています。

Q3　東洋大学での学生生活の良かった点と難しかった点を教えてください。
私は東洋トップグローバル奨学金の初期の留学生であり、新設された INIADの一期生でもあり、大変なこともたくさんありましたが、今でもいい経験だったと思います。最大の課題は、4年間のうち3年間の授業が日本語で行われたことです。日本語を事前に学んでいなかった私でしたが、日本語力を言い訳にせず優れた成績を収めようと決意しました。また、日本人学生と交流する際、言語の壁や私がブルガリアで会社を経営していたことから距離を感じることもありました。
しかし、お互いの好奇心と私の粘り強さのおかげで、最終的には言語の壁を乗り越え、友情を築くことができました。

Department of Information Networking for Innovation and Design, Faculty of Information Networking for Innovation and Design (graduated FY 2021)

The Toyo Top Global Scholarship was launched with the aim of promoting the internationalization of Toyo University and producing global leaders. The first students were admitted from April 2017 and the last group of students joined in Fall 2021. A total of 179 students have graduated from Toyo under this scholarship program, with another 25 scheduled to graduate in Fall 2024. We spoke with graduate about their experiences in the midst of the university’s internationalization efforts and their lives following graduation.

Q1 What have you been doing post-graduation?

After graduating, I have been engaged in product management, design, and education in Bulgaria. I worked on the design andmanufacturing of products in fields such as construction, medical, and para-military, as well as on SaaS platform development. Additionally, I have experience teaching children’s tech education and competitive mathematics both in Bulgaria and Japan, and I have authored mathematics books as well.

Starting September 2024, after earning a Master’s degree in Education (Computer Science), I began working at the British International School CLASSIC as the Head of Strategy and Technology while also serving as an IB Computer Science teacher. I am currently dedicated to educational activities, contributing to the construction of a new campus while fulfilling my teaching and leadership responsibilities.

Q2 How did your studies and experiences at Toyo University help in your current career?

My experience of studying in an international environment at Toyo University has been invaluable to my work at an international school. 
The knowledge I gained through INIAD's courses in Business, Engineering, Design, and Civil Engineering has been applied daily in diverse fields such as product design, IoT, education, and management. In my current role, I feel I am integrating everything I learned at INIAD. I am actively involved in the construction of a new campus, contributing to architecture, construction planning,  network and IoT infrastructure, and cost management. Furthermore, when teaching computer science, I am able to provide students with a broader perspective of the technology field,drawing on the knowledge I gained during mystudies.

Q3 What were the positive and difficult aspects of student life at Toyo?

I was one of the early recipients of the Toyo Top Global Scholarship and among the first cohort of students in the newly established INIAD Faculty. 
While there were many difficulties, I still consider the experience avaluable one. The biggest challenge was that, for three out of the four years, classes were conducted in Japanese. Having no prior experience studying the language, I worked hard to ensure my performance and GPA would not suffer. Socializing with Japanese classmates was also challenging due to the language barrier and the fact that I had already been managing my own company back in Bulgaria.  At times, this created a sense of distance between us. However, through mutual curiosity and my persistence, I was able to build friendships and overcome the differences in language.
