Founded in 1841 as a teacher education institution, York St John University has evolved into a four-year public college that offers courses and lectures in a diverse range of fields. In 2010, the university launched its Japanese language program, which currently boasts an enrollment of approximately 140 students. To date, 33 students from Toyo University have participated in York St John's long-term study abroad program.

York St John University is situated in the north of England, in the mid-sized city of York. The city is home to numerous historical landmarks, including the iconic Yorkminster. The university's campus is centrally located within the city, providing students with a tranquil learning environment steeped in European history and culture. It takes roughly two hours to travel from York to London by train.

This renowned university was established in 1883 and boasts a rich history of over 140 years. It is highly regarded for its exceptional level of research and education. The Japanese language education was introduced in 1990 and presently has around 130 enrolled students.

Cardiff University is situated in the capital of Wales, Cardiff and it is approximately two hours from western London by train. The region offers stunning natural scenery along with abundant shopping and dining options, allowing visitors to experience diverse cultures. The university's campus is centrally located within the city and resembles a small town in itself.

Curtin University, established in 1986, is the largest state university in Western Australia. Named after Australia's 14th prime minister, the university offers a wide range of academic programs across various fields. Additionally, Curtin University has a rich history in teaching the Japanese language, with its Japanese language program launched in 1967. Currently, there are approximately 200 students studying Japanese at the university.

The university is located in the quiet residential area of Bentley, just a 20-minute bus ride from central Perth. The campus offers a green and open atmosphere, providing an ideal environment for students to focus on their studies. Moreover, the university has put in place a robust support system that offers various services and facilities to ensure students have a comfortable college life while also excelling in their academic pursuits.

Founded in 1855, the College of New Jersey (TCNJ) is a highly-rated top-ranked university in the USA. The college boasts an excellent Japanese language program, with approximately 35 students enrolling each term.

Situated on an expansive 289 acres, the campus is located in a beautiful natural setting fairly close to New York and Philadelphia. In addition to a strong curriculum focused on liberal arts, the college offers an abundance of undergraduate programs across seven different departments.

It is worth noting that TCNJ has been consistently ranked as the #1 public university in the northeast by U.S. News & World Report. This recognition underscores the college's commitment to providing quality education to its students and a testament to the excellent faculty, staff, and facilities that make TCNJ a top choice for students seeking a world-class education.

Busan University of Foreign Studies, a private university founded in 1981, currently has an enrollment of approximately 10,000 students. The university offers a comprehensive Japanese language program that was launched in 1982, attracting around 800 students who study Japanese as a major or minor.

Busan University has established partner agreements with numerous schools in Japan, including Toyo University. The university's campus is located in Namsam-dong and is just a five-minute school bus ride from Namsam Station on the No. 1 Subway Line.

The campus is relatively new, having been relocated in 2014, and the buildings, including dormitories, are clean and modern. The International Exchange Center has a friendly and helpful staff that speaks English, Chinese, and Japanese, creating a welcoming environment for students to seek consultations and support.

Founded in 1954 by Korea's first president, Syngman Rhee, Inha University is a private university with an enrollment of approximately 22,000 students. The university's strong foundation in engineering has made it traditionally known for its excellence in the sciences.

Inha University offers a comprehensive Japanese language program that was launched in 1979, attracting around 270 students who study Japanese. The university has a long-standing partnership with Toyo University, facilitating both long-term and short-term study abroad programs and abundant interaction between the two institutions.

The university has established partner agreements with over 15 universities in Japan and offers some classes in Japanese, demonstrating its extensive exchange with Japan. Inha University's campus is about 30 minutes by car from Incheon International Airport and approximately an hour away from central Seoul by public transportation, providing a comfortable living environment for students.

Established in 1956, Daegu University is a private institution located in Korea's third-largest city. As the first institute for advanced research in education for people with disabilities, the university places significant emphasis in the field of welfare and social support. Furthermore, the university is recognized for its efforts towards internationalization and boasts the largest population of international students among regional universities in Korea.

Daegu University offers a Japanese language program that was launched in 2002 and attracts approximately 400 students. The campus, located an hour from the city of Daegu, provides an expansive space with lush natural scenery that has been recognized as one of the top 10 most beautiful campuses in Korea.

Chulalongkorn University, established in 1917, is Thailand's oldest and most respected national university, known for its excellence in higher education. Although situated in central Bangkok, the university covers a vast area of approximately 2.1 square kilometers, and offers a wide range of departments ranging from humanities to sciences. The campus is equipped with modern laboratories and state-of-the-art equipment, and its central library boasts an extensive collection of over one million publications.

Within the university's School of Humanities, the East Asian Languages department offers Japanese language courses, attracting many students to study the language.

Established in 1949, this national university offers a diverse range of departments and research fields in both humanities and sciences, and currently has approximately 25,000 students enrolled. Srinakharinwirot university launched its Japanese language program in 2002, and currently has around 190 students studying the language.

Although located in Bangkok's bustling business district, the university's main campus boasts a large plot of land and provides ample opportunities to experience Southeast Asia's culture and economy. Additionally, the Ongkharak Campus, located about an hour and a half away by car, features on-site amenities such as a bank, bookstore, and hotel, creating a highly convenient environment for students and visitors alike.

Established in 1964, Chiang Mai University is a top national university and the first institution of higher education in northern Thailand. In recent years, the university has expanded significantly, with an enrollment of approximately 30,000 students. Japanese language education at Chiang Mai University began in 1977, and currently, approximately 160 students are studying Japanese.

The university's School of Humanities is home to a Japanese department and a Japanese Research Center, playing a pivotal role in Japanese language education for northern Thailand. The department has welcomed a total of seven long-term study abroad students from Toyo University.

Located in the city of Chiang Mai, the university offers a safe and comfortable environment for students, with low crime rates and easy access to a consulate and a general hospital.

The Burapha University was formerly known as Bangsaen Educational College, the region's first higher education institution, founded in 1955. (The name was changed to the current Burapha University in 1990). Having started out as an educational college, it has excellent educational facilities and services, including Thai language training for foreigners, and is a model school for Japanese language education. Facilities include the Institute of Marine Science, whose aquarium is popular, a library center, academic service center, computer center and university hospital.

Darma Persada University, located approximately 20 km from the center of Jakarta, enrolls approximately 3,800 students. This private university was founded in 1986 through the cooperation between the Indonesia-Japan Friendship Association (PPIJ) and the Association of Indonesian Former Japan Exchange Students (PERSADA) to express gratitude to the two countries. The former Japan exchange students took a leadership role in the school’s founding, which is an exceedingly rare occurrence on a global scale – a university founded to utilize overseas experiences in their home countries.

Darma Persada is one of the world's most prominent pro-Japan universities,, and since the 2013 school year, all students are required to take Japanese language classes. The university launched its Japanese language program in 1986, and there are currently 876 students studying Japanese. After partnering with Toyo University, Darma Persada University has hosted many sessions of International Students Meetings (ISM) and other events, with most interactions taking place online. However, we expect more active exchange in the future through in-person study abroad opportunities.

Uzbekistan State World Languages University is the country's premier hub for language education. With a strong foundation in the esteemed Tashkent University of Foreign Languages Education, the university boasts seven faculties and offers a diverse range of languages and disciplines.

Its Japanese language program, established in 1996, attracts over 600 students seeking a comprehensive understanding of Japanese language and culture. Through partnership with Uzbekistan State World Languages University, the Faculty of Letters, Toyo University has conducted Japanese language education training in Uzbekistan offering valuable experience for students from both sides.

With the anticipated conclusion of the pandemic, the stage is set for an exciting revival of active exchange programs, including study abroad opportunities.

Bologna University, located in the central Italian city of Bologna, was founded in 1088. It is not only the oldest university in Europe but also considered the origin of modern universities worldwide, often referred to as the "Mother University" (Alma Mater Studiorum). Originally established as a law school, the university now comprises 31 departments and 5 schools in various fields such as humanities, science, technology, medicine, and sociology. With over 90,000 students, it stands as a leading comprehensive university in Italy. The university hosts more than 7,500 international students, providing a vibrant environment for cultural exchange.

The University of Florence has its origins in the Florentine republic decided to establish in 1321 and reestablished in 1859 as the University of Higher Vocational Training, it is a relatively young university in Italy.
Florence itself became the cultural center of the Renaissance in the 15th century, when the city was once under the rule of the Medici family, Today, the city center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site as the "Historic Centre of Florence" and was named European Capital of Culture in 1986, providing excellent conditions for academic pursuits.
In its commitment to cultural and scientific internationalization, the University has established over 500 cooperation agreements with institutions in more than 100 countries, welcoming a diverse body of foreign faculty, researchers, and students.

Founded in 1404, The University of Turin is one of the most ancient and prestigious Italian Universities. Hosting almost 80,000 students and with 120 buildings in different areas in Turin and in key places in Piedmont, and promoting culture and producing research, innovation, training and employment.
The University of Turin virtually covers every field of knowledge and Its research centers in medical diagnostics, biosensor science, and nanotechnology are among the best in Italy. The region of Piedmont, where the university is located, is home to five UNESCO World Heritage Sites and is famous for its food and wine.

AUSA is located in the center of Amsterdam, the capital and largest city of the Netherlands.
Amsterdam is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Europe, and since English is widely spoken, there is no difficulty in living in Amsterdam even if you do not speak Dutch.
Both on and off campus, you will be able to meet people from various countries and receive the latest research and education. Since the signing of the agreement in 2014, student exchanges programs are the main focus. Not only sending students but also exchange students are regularly accepted, thus realizing two-way exchanges.

Douglas offers the most bachelor’s degrees and post-degree programs of any college in B.C.
Because of the college’s strong academic base, the majority of these for-credit courses transfer to different research universities in B.C. and across Canada, providing students with flexible pathways to reach their academic goals. With an average class size of 35, the college provides numerous opportunities for students to interact with professors and classmates.
The College has two main campuses in Metro Vancouver. The two main campuses, situated near Vancouver and directly connected to the subway system, offer easy accessibility and draw students from across the region.
Douglas promotes a learning through practice, and the curriculum includes opportunities for hands-on training, fieldwork, company tours, and real-world workplace exposure.

The Free University of Tbilisi was founded in 2007 by Mr. Khakha Bendukidze  with the aim of providing opportunities for high-quality education to every person with the will to learn, regardless of their financial condition . It is located in downtown Tbilisi and shares its campus with the Agricultural University  of Georgia. It has now grown to include seven undergraduate and postgraduate schools, including the School of International Relations, the School of Business, and the School of Art and Visual Design and Architecture. The university has the longest-standing Japanese language course among Georgia’s educational institutions, and many of the Japanese speakers in Georgia are said to have attended this university. 

Toyo University, a fully accredited private university located in the heart of Japan's capital, Tokyo, is a beacon of educational excellence. Having been founded in 1887 by the renowned philosopher Enryo Inoue as a private school of philosophy, it had grown to become one of the largest universities in Japan, boasting 14 faculties, 48 departments (as of March 2023), and a student population of more than 30,000. Grounded in the three pillars, philosophy education, career education, and internationalization, Toyo University is committed to fostering young professionals who can thrive in the global stage.

In 2014, the university was selected as a "Top Global University Project" by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. In 2017, Toyo was also selected for the "International Student Employment Promotion Program" to better support international students in finding employment in Japan.

In this Inter-University Exchange Project, Toyo University seeks to develop young professionals who can bridge Japan and other countries through its extensive Japanese language education built upon the knowledge and experience gained from these past practices.
