Entrance Examination for 'The Top Leading Students Scholarship' of Toyo Graduate Schools

■Purpose

The purpose of the Graduate School Scholarship for Advanced International Students is to promote the globalization of Toyo University Graduate Schools by accepting outstanding international students from Japan and abroad (including those from within the university) to conduct research at the university through support to reduce the cost burden of studying abroad.

■Admission capacity

All campuses and all Graduate Schools 10 in total in each AY.

 

■Application Eligibility (extracts)

1.    A person with non-Japanese nationality
2.    A person with a grade of 2.5 or higher for the academic performance coefficient set by Toyo University for undergraduate study for the applicant’s last level of education (including expected completion)
3.    A person who meets the language proficiency (Japanese or English) criteria set by Toyo University
4.    A person who plans to obtain a “Student” status of residence in Japan by the time of admission
5.    A person who has passed the pre-application matching by the prescribed date

■Support period

Standard period of enrollment (2 years)

*In the case of short-term completion in 1 year or 1.5 years, the period of enrollment until completion.

 

■Support for Successful Applicants

1.    Full exemption from payment of tuition and fees (paid by Toyo University)
2.    Income from working as an educational assistant (TA, Resident assistant at the International Residence, etc., working is obligatory)
3.    Scholarship and housing support
Scholarship: 120,000 yen per month (paid by Toyo University/ including housing expenses)
Housing: International House (in Sendagi) is recommended. Entrance fee 50,000 yen + dormitory fees (51,000 yen/month for a double room)
When using the International House, students pay the occupancy fee from their monthly scholarship.

■Obligations and Roles of Advanced Students

1.    Work as an educational assistant (TA, Resident assistant at the International Residence, etc.)
2.    Engage in international education, culture and other exchange activities with other fields of study
3.    Periodically report his/her own research activities and the activities described in (1) and (2) above (holding activity reporting sessions)
4.    Receive support from Toyo University to strengthen Japanese language skills (for English track curriculum students)
5.    Cooperate with requests from Toyo University after the completion of study

Before you start

Entrance Examinations Offered to International Applicants Overseas are applicable only to applicants residing outside Japan.

Those who are applying to take the Entrance Examinations Offered to International Applicants Overseas are required to meet both the conditions below.

①Persons who are nationals of countries other than Japan and reside outside Japan when they apply for and take the entrance examination.

②Persons who satisfy the standards of language proficiency required by Toyo University.

Entrance Examinations Offered to International Applicants Overseas are available for the following Graduate Schools and Courses.
