Pragmatics, Sociolinguistics, Intercultural Communication
During my postgraduate years I have conducted research in the field of Japanese language pragmatics, but over the past years I’ve become more interested in intercultural education. My most recent project is “Verbal communication of emotion in foreign language and intercultural learning” (Supported by JSPS KAKENHI Grant Number 20K21980), a study that aims at (1) determining how English language
learners verbally communicate emotions in social interactions, and (2) investigating whether emotion expression is transferable from one’s native language to an acquired (foreign or second) language.
-The Latest Research Theme and Activities-
Over the past years, I have taught courses such as, English Intercultural Communication, English Integrated Skills, English Presentation, English Critical Reading Strategies.
I am currently teaching English for Tourism Industry, Reading and Vocabulary and Basic and Academic Writing courses.
-Message for Students-
Don’t be afraid of making mistakes! Albert Einstein said "Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.”
This is the time to learn new things, make lots of mistakes and learn from them.
Hope you will all enjoy your student life at Toyo University!
