Educational Goals

Our goal in the Department of Business Administration is the development of talented individuals who can succeed as management professionals. Thus, our students acquire broad knowledge as well as the specific skills necessary for applying business administration principles. In addition, we nurture them to think strategically, theoretically and creatively to achieve certain business goals.

Diploma policy of the Department of Business Administration


Business administration is a field that examines phenomena within companies and other organizations. There is a focus on corporate mindsets (business principles) and strategy, organizational forms, and business resources. In addition, the growth process as well as strengths and weaknesses of firms is analyzed. There are many methods of analysis, and we use elements of economics, sociology, and psychology in our thinking. Thus, business administration is truly an interdisciplinary field.

The Department of Business Administration is composed of four fields: 1) organization management, 2) strategic management, 3) information management and analysis, and 4) corporate finance, accounting, and marketing. Students are able to study a wide array of topics within these four fields, which allows them to learn about business administration in a systematic fashion.

Students also attend seminars to study business administration, and the Department offers a Global Business Communication Course for learning business English. In the seminars, students research specific areas within business administration in small groups. Each student is given the freedom to proactively research and pursue topics of personal interest, which can help them acquire essential skills needed in their future work as business administration professionals.
In our educational program, we develop management professionals that can succeed in various roles and industries.

Basic Academic Skills: This lecture is a required subject during the first semester and enables students to acquire the fundamental skills necessary to study business administration. This lecture teaches the basics of statistics, strategic and corporate analysis, and students acquire this knowledge through discussion with their peers. This lecture not only provide basic skills, but also gives student a sense of satisfaction as they learn about business administration.

Basic training lecture

Introductory Course for Seminars: This lecture placed in the second semester is one of core subjects of the department. Students learn fundamental skills necessary to actively participate in seminars. Students gather and analyze information related to business administration, discuss various issues and their solutions in groups, write reports, and give presentations.

Global Business Communication Course: In this course, students are able to acquire various skills in topics such as business communication, business negotiation, and global business in English, in order to succeed on a global level. These subjects are primarily offered in English, which enables students to learn practical English used in all types of international business relations.

4 Areas of Specialization

Organizational Management

In this area, students primarily learn about internal management within companies. More specifically, they learn how people think and act, what happens when they work together, how to understand human behavior, and how to design an organization that fosters a good working environment. Students learn about these topics from many different perspectives.

Strategic Management

In this area, students learn how to beat the competition. They specifically focus on how business resources should be allocated, what business opportunities should be explored, and what partnerships should be established. Students also acquire rational thinking skills, universal to all fields of business administration, using case studies from various eras, industries and regions. In addition, they learn how to apply this “rationality” to changes in business environments and global trends.

Information Management and Analysis

In this area, students learn how to leverage the business resource of information as well as information acquired from outside the company. Analyzing huge amounts of data generated by a company and making decisions based on information requires modeling data and information, and the logic of decision making. Students learn to use analytical methods for specific purposes and to gain the necessary information and knowledge to run companies. In addition, information technology (IT) provides the tools to achieve this, and students also learn how to use IT in business administration.

Corporate Finance, Accounting and Marketing

In general, goods and services are the outcomes of company activities, which help generate financial results. Business administration is a field that deals with all the activities of a company, which requires understanding the customers, and possessing marketing and accounting knowledge. Thus, in this area, students learn how to procure necessary capital, how to invest this capital, and which business metrics should be used to analyze and compare results with those of other companies.

In addition to the specialized business administration subjects taught in this area, we also offer other specialized subjects such as marketing, accounting and finance.

このほか、学生が主体となって経営学を研究するゼミナール科目や、ビジネス英語を学ぶGBC (Global Business Communication) 科目なども設置しています。ゼミナールでは、経営学のさまざまな分野について、少人数で専門的に学習・研究します。学生一人ひとりが主体となり、自身の興味・関心をもったテーマをとことん調査・追究することで、生きた経営学を身につけることができます。










GBC (Global Business Communication) 科目:グローバルに活躍できるビジネスパーソンの育成を目指して、「ビジネス・コミュニケーション」「ビジネス・ネゴシエーション」「英語で学ぶグローバルビジネス」などの科目を多数設置しています。これらの科目は基本的に英語で実施され、さまざまな国際ビジネスの場面を想定した「生きた英語」を学ぶことができます。 







企業がもつ情報という経営資源、ならびに企業の外部から得た情報の「活かし方」について主に学びます。ここでの重要なキーワードは「モデル化」です。企業活動で生じる大量のデータを分析したり、情報に基づいた意思決定を行ったりするためには、データや情報、さらには意思決定ロジックの本質をモデル化することが必要です。そして、目的に合った分析手法を用いることで、企業経営に必要な情報や知識を得ることができます。そして、その仕組みを実現するのがIT であり、企業経営におけるIT 活用についても学びます。
