01 Toyo University Used Book Donation —Books for linking people—

Do you have any books on your bookshelves that you don’t need anymore? You can donate your old books to Toyo University, which will sell them to raise funds for the purchase of new books necessary for education and research. Your old books can thus support students’ futures. You can start the donation procedure from a dedicated website. We await your participation.

02 Reuse Donation —Reuse and support Toyo University—

Toyo University Reuse Donation is a new program in which you can sell your unused watches, jewelry, clothes, and other articles and donate the proceeds to Toyo University. The donations will be used to not only benefit the university’s education and research but also send BCG vaccines to children in developing countries (one vaccine per item sold). This program contributes to the achievement of four SDGs and helps realize a circular economy in society. Please sign up if you have reusable goods at home.

03 Open Courses Applications accepted for AY 2022 Fall Term Open Courses

The Center for Social Contribution is now accepting applications for AY 2022 Fall Term Open Courses. The courses will be held in three modes: On-site (physical classroom attendance), web-based (live online lectures), and hybrid (attendees can choose either the on-site or web-based mode). The courses will cover a variety of themes, with some offered free of charge and some comprising a single session on one day. The fees start from 1,650 yen (single session) for on-site courses and 1,100 yen (single session) for web-based courses (fees vary from one course to another). For more detailed information, such as outlines of the respective courses and application formalities, please refer to the brochure viewable on the Toyo University website.

04 Toyo University Homecoming Day Sunday, October 30, 2022

This year’s Homecoming Day will be held in Building No. 8 on the Hakusan Campus, the first in-person edition in three years. As with the last edition, the event will be livestreamed on the day, and an online class reunion will also be held. So alumni living far away from Toyo are urged to join us in large numbers. The University Festival will also be held on the day for on-site participants to enjoy.

05 A new welfare and nursery education-related network to be formed!

We are preparing to form a new network that will link Toyo University alumni who work in welfare, nursery education, and other related fields with the university, its academic faculty, and current students. The purposes of this network are (1) support for graduates wishing to enter graduate school or receive recurrent education, (2) research promotion and workplace vitalization through collaboration between alumni or their workplaces and the university and faculty (Toyo University Social Welfare Society, etc.), and (3) cooperation and coordination with alumni’s workplaces for OJT opportunities for current students. If you are interested or wish to join the network, please send your information using the 2D code. We await your active participation!

06 Abolition of the Teacher Certification Renewal System
Discontinuation of the courses for teacher certification renewal

On July 1, 2022, the Teacher Certification Renewal System was abolished under the Act for Partial Revision of the Special Act for Educational Personnel and the Education Personnel Certification Act. Accordingly, Toyo University has discontinued its courses for teacher certification renewal. We take this opportunity to thank many past students, including alumni, for their hard work in the courses. For information on the handling of teacher certification on and after July 1, 2022, please refer to the document (in Japanese) on this subject viewable on the website of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (https://www.mext.go.jp/a_menu/shotou/koushin/)
