2016(平成28)年、学校法人東洋大学では新たな行動計画として「Beyond2020」を策定。
2020年を一つの節目として、国内外で山積する諸問題を創造的に解決し、切り拓いていける教育・研究機関であり続けていくことを宣言しました。キーワードは「グローバリゼーション」「イノベーション」「クリエイティビティ(創造力)」「ヒューマンバリュー(人間価値)」の4つ。時代の要請と高等教育の使命を踏まえた大学改革により、教育活動の〝進化〟、そして〝深化〟を目指します。
In 2016, Toyo University Incorporated Educational Institution formulated new action objectives called “Beyond 2020”.
With the year 2020 as a major milestone, we proclaimed our commitment to continuing to be an educational and research organization capable of solving various problems both in and outside Japan in a creative manner, and realizing future developments. The key concepts comprise the following four initiatives: Globalization, Innovation, Creativity, and Human Value. Our reform of the university is based on the requirements of the times as well as our mission for higher education, and constitutes the basis of our commitment to the “evolution” and “further deepening” of educational activities.

ACTION PLAN
- Improve social infrastructure by expanded use of AI, IoT, and big data involving collaboration.
- Promote multinational collaborative research projects in association with public and private institutions from developing countries, primarily in Asia.
- Research state-of-the-art management skills of enterprise used both in Japan and abroad, and develop educational functions.
- Promote advanced projects with regard to health in areas such as food, environment, health and welfare.
- Establish organizations that promote social diversity and develop activities aimed at promoting a diverse social system.
- Form a partnership with the region for healthy youth development activities that are based on Toyo University's sports vision.
- Initiate cooperation in international sports business management.
- Expand related projects to innovate with respect to the national goal of tourism.

- Increase our recruitment of international students through reaching out to the public and private sectors and implement strategies to strengthen the dispatch of students.

- Promote industry–academia collaboration for education in association with global corporations and construct a system for reciprocal education between corporations and the university.
- Introduce a tenure-tracking system to attract diverse talent.

ACTION PLAN
- Review student, faculty, and staff capacity.
- Increase time for research by improving the efficiency and organization of campus committees.
- Create flexible recruitment forms, including those for appointing specially-appointed instructors.
- Survey educational and research conditions both domestically and abroad, and strengthen the strategic capabilities of university management.
- Clarify the role of full-time staff and optimize total cost balances by means such as outsourcing.
「Beyond2020」の実現に向けた教育システムの質的改善 Qualitative improvement of educational systems for the realization of “Beyond 2020”
「Beyond2020」の各ビジョン実現に向け、学部・大学院が計画立案した中長期計画を2017(平成29)年度より実施しています。具体的には、スーパーグローバル大学創成支援に関連した国際的な視野を醸成する取り組みのほか、2018(平成30)年度の大学院の改組、2021年度のライフデザイン学部等の移転計画など、学部・大学院における中長期計画を基盤とした各種施策を展開していきます。
With the aim of realizing the respective visions of “Beyond 2020”, we have been implementing the medium- to long-term plans established by faculties and graduate schools since the 2017 academic year. Specifically, we will focus on various initiatives to foster international viewpoints included in the Top Global University Project and other measures based on the medium- to long-term plans for faculties and graduate schools such as a reorganization of graduate schools in the 2018 academic year as well as a relocation plan of the Faculty of Human Life Design to be completed in the 2021 academic year.
ライフデザイン学部等の赤羽台キャンパス移転計画を発表 A Relocation Project Announced: Faculty of Human Life Design to the Akabanedai Campus
2017(平成29)年8月、現在朝霞キャンパス(埼玉県朝霞市)に設置しているライフデザイン学部等を、2021年4月に赤羽台キャンパス(東京都北区)へ移転することを決定し、発表しました。
この計画は、2013(平成25)年に締結した学校法人東洋大学と東京都北区および独立行政法人都市再生機構(UR)の『赤羽台地区における大学等の整備に係る協定』に基づいたものであり、本法人が赤羽台キャンパス開設構想段階から北区、URとで協議を進めてきたものです。北区は23区内で高齢化率が最も高く、福祉に関する教育・研究・実践の場の設置に強い期待を寄せており、ライフデザイン学部等の移転はこれに応えるものです。
今回の決定により、既設の情報連携学部による先進技術と福祉分野の協働が実現し、少子高齢化といった社会課題に対する大学と自治体両輪での取り組みが加速します。
In August 2017, Toyo University Incorporated Educational Institution decided and announced the relocation project of the Faculty of Human Life Design currently located on the Asaka Campus (in Asaka City, Saitama Prefecture) to the Akabanedai Campus (Kita Ward, Tokyo) in April 2021.
The relocation project is based on the “Agreement on Cooperation in Preparing for the Administration of Educational Institutes Including Universities in the Akabanedai District” concluded in 2013 between Toyo University Incorporated Educational Institution, Kita Ward of Tokyo, and the Urban Renaissance Agency (hereinafter, “UR”); and the three parties have been holding a series of discussions on this project since the planning stages of the establishment of the Akabanedai Campus. With the highest aging population rate among the 23 wards of Tokyo, Kita Ward has high expectations for Toyo University’s administration of an educational, research, and practical institute, to which this relocation project of the Faculty of Human Life Design, etc. will respond.
On completion of this relocation project, collaboration will be established utilizing the advanced technology of information networking and expertise in welfare studies of the existing Faculty of Information Networking for Innovation and Design, which will accelerate collaborative efforts to be made by the University and Kita Ward to address the Ward’s social issues stemming from its aging population.

Complete the construction of a building (with a gross floor area of about 21,000 m2) by the end of FY 2020 for the relocation of the Faculty of Human Life Design on school land in the Akabanedai district secured earlier based on the trilateral agreement between Toyo University Incorporated Educational Institution, Kita Ward, and UR.
- 2. Continue using the grounds and buildings on The Asaka Campus for students to use as sport facilities for extracurricular activities and other purposes.
