Online Lecture by Dr. Makio Takemura, Professor Emeritus of Toyo University
Dr. Makio Takemura, Professor Emeritus of Toyo University (former President of Toyo University), will be giving an online lecture at the special event organized by the University of Strasbourg in France, one of the partner institutions of Toyo University. The theme of the lecture will be "The Educational Principles of Inoue Enryo: Taking on the Challenges of Higher Education". We look forward to your participation.
About the Lecture:
In this seminar, I will introduce the educational principles of Inoue Enryo, philosopher and founder of Toyo University in Tokyo. Toyo University was founded in 1887, and Enryo first established it as the “Philosophy Academy” at the very young age of 29. Although he was an educator more than a century ago, his educational ideals can be a reference for us today. Not only that, it may be said that he anticipated the challenges that higher education is currently facing. I would like to touch on some of the contemporary educational issues that especially Japanese universities are facing.
