On October 4th 2018, Toyo University welcomed H.E. Raúl Florentín-Antola, Ambassador of Paraguay, and Prof. Arminda Maria Alicia Bareiro, of the National University of Asuncion. They met Chairman Shinji Fukukawa, Vice President for International Affairs Prof. Kazuo Takahashi, who is in charge of international affairs, and Associate Prof. Robert Hughes to discuss future joint research projects and the possible exchange of students and faculty members.
There are approximately 70 universities in Paraguay, and the National University of Asuncion is known as one of the top higher education institutes in the country, and they prepare to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Japanese-Paraguayan relations next year, and seek to strengthen their globalization efforts. Toyo University also offers Spanish classes at Hakusan and Itakura campus, and we hope this will stimulate our students’ interest in Spanish and Central and South America.
