Regarding the status of residence for the alumni and international students who are unable to return to the country of origin.
The international students who graduated and were expelled/dropped out from the university before 2020 are eligible to switch the current status of residence to ‘designated activities (with the active period for 6 months)’. This policy was approved on October 19th due to the coronavirus that caused international students unable to return to the country of origin.
In principle, those who have been expelled or dropped out from the university must leave Japan as they are not engaged in any activities related to the status of residence of ‘College Student’. However, during the current situation that caused international students unable to return to the country of origin, you are allowed to apply for a status of residence of ‘Specific Activities’. Please check the website below for the procedures.
* There is no document need to be submitted to the university. Please apply to the Immigration Bureau of your jurisdiction.
*For those who have successfully changed the status or residence, you must inform Toyo University Global Service at toyo-pugs@tugs.co.jp informing them with the below details.
1) Student number
2) Name
3) Graduation date
4) Contact Number (Mobile phone)
5) A screenshot of your both sides Residence Card
