Important: Strengthening NEW Measures against the Infection Spread of Novel Coronavirus
- Non-resident foreign nationals from all countries and regions (including Residence Track) are not allowed to enter into Japan from January 14th 2021 until the cancellation of the state of emergency.
However, for those whose visas have already been issued AND from the countries and regions under Residence Track on the infectious disease countries level 2 are allowed to enter into Japan by January 21st at 00:00 am (Japan Time). However, this rule does not apply to those who have been in the United Kingdom, South Africa and/or any countries and regions on the infectious disease countries level 3 within 14 days before the arrival in Japan.
- Those who enter the country after January 14th at 00:00 am are not allowed to use the public transportation and expected to undergo a self-quarantine in your place or the accommodation while keeping the current location on the device/smartphone on for 14 days. When you receive a request from the health center to show your current location (If separate quarantine measures are to be taken, those also need to be pledged.), you need to provide them with a writing pledge.
If you violate the pledge, you will be the subject to suspension under the quarantine law AND
1. your name and any information related to the spread of infection will be made public (for Japanese);
2. your name and any information related to the spread of infection will be made public and your current status of residence might be revoked and/or become subject of deportation based on the immigration control and refugee recognition act (for foreign nationals).
If you fail to provide the writing pledge, you are required to stay in the designated accommodation decided by the quarantine section for 14 days.
