Short Program 2019 (Inha University)

From July 1 to 14, 2019, 25 students from Inha University of South Korea participated in a summer program at Toyo University.

During those nearly two weeks, the participants studied Japanese language and culture, took trips within Tokyo and to the surrounding areas, and built friendships with Toyo University students.

Japanese Language

The group was divided into three classes based on their level of ability, and they received Japanese language lessons.

Field trips

The group took field trips to Yanesen, where the quaint atmosphere of old Tokyo still remains; Shibuya and Harajuku, centers of modern culture; Tsukiji and Kappabashi, sightseeing areas popular with overseas visitors; and to the Edo-Tokyo Museum, where they learned the history of Tokyo and its precursor, the city of Edo.

Japanese culture experience

The students had a hands-on Japanese cultural experience with traditional papermaking, writing calligraphy, and performing the tea ceremony.

The participants also had an opportunity to leave the city behind and visit the countryside. Their agricultural experience included gathering crops and enjoying handmade pizza.
