Support Schemes for International Students

Toyo University offers various scholarships to the international students with the status of residence "Student”.

⑴ Toyo University Tuition Reduction Scholarship for Privately Financed International Students

Toyo University Tuition Reduction Scholarship for Privately Financed International Students is designed by reducing their financial burden to encourage learning for international students in Toyo University and in its graduate schools. Information on how and when to apply for 2021 is available in "Application Guideline AY2021" .
*New students are required to apply after enrollment (April or September) .There are no procedures to be taken in advance before enrollment (the university will inform you after enrollment).

Reduction percentage

Undergraduates

〇First year: Reduction equivalent to 30% of tuition fees
〇Second to fourth year: For students meeting academic standards, reduction equivalent  to 40%, 30%, or 20% of tuition fees, depending on academic performance

 Graduate students  〇Reduction equivalent to 30% of tuition fees

Period

1 year (limited to the designated length of the course of study)

Selection

Recipients are selected from students with difficulty to study for financial reasons, meeting scholastic performance standards as well as other criteria. Application-based.

* If you would like to apply for the scholarship, we recommend that you pay the tuition fees in two installments.

* New students will become candidates for above tuition reduction scholarship at the time of admission. Eligibility criteria will be provided in the "Admission Guide." 

 

⑵ Scholarships

1) Masajuro Shiokawa Scholarship

This scholarship was founded in April 2002 by former Toyo University Chancellor Masajuro Shiokawa to promote international exchange at Toyo University and contribute to the education of international students. It is available to privately financed international students who have outstanding academic records, are of good character, of good health, and expected to contribute to the development of their home countries.

No more than two students from each faculty and each year from among second to fourth-year 
undergraduates and no more than two graduate students.

Amount

Payment of 100,000 yen per month (annual total of 1,200,000 yen). If you are selected, you may not receive other scholarships.

Selection

Recipients are selected from privately funded international students who have outstanding academic records, are of good character, of good health, and expected to contribute to the development of their home countries.

* This scheme is not application-based.

 

2) Scholarship for students with excellent academic records (Former Toyo University Category 1 Scholarship) 

Recipients of this scholarship are selected based on university scholarship regulations from among students demonstrating excellence in terms of academic performance and character. We will select from all undergraduate students, not just privately financed international students.

One-time 300,000-yen payment. You may receive other scholarships at the same time.
