A master’s thesis denotes an academic paper that shows, from a broad perspective, the results of an advanced level of theoretical and empirical research on practical business administration and new knowledge based on the research.
1. Generally, a master’s thesis should comprise the introduction, a survey on previous studies, a methodological explanation, the argument, and the conclusion.
2. The perspective, methods, content, conclusion, and other elements of the overall master’s thesis should be original and universal.
3. The theme of the master’s thesis should be appropriately explained in the introduction. The novelty and importance of the master’s thesis should be clear when compared with previous studies.
4. The master’s thesis should include a thorough survey on previous studies.
5. The logics of the master’s thesis should be precisely supported by data and materials. The data used in the thesis should be statistically processed in an appropriate way.
6. The logics should be sufficiently demonstrative and cogent. Technical terms and concepts should be used appropriately.
7. Quotations, notes, and the bibliography should be provided appropriately, and reference materials should be used appropriately.

A research paper on a specific subject denotes a paper that shows, from a broad perspective, new practical knowledge based on practical research and a survey on a specific subject in conformity with the principles of an advanced level of practical business administration.
1. Generally, a research paper on a specific subject should comprise the introduction, a survey on previous studies or developments, the argument, and the conclusion.
2. The perspective, methods, content, conclusion, and other elements of the research paper should be linked directly to actual business administration issues, including corporate management, marketing, accounting, and finance. Also, the conclusion of the paper should be useful.
3. The theme of the research paper should be appropriately explained in the introduction.
4. The logics of the research paper should be precisely supported by data and materials. The data used in the paper should be statistically processed in an appropriate way.
5. The logics should be sufficiently demonstrative and cogent. Technical terms and concepts should be used appropriately.
6. Quotations, notes, and the bibliography should be provided appropriately, and reference materials should be used appropriately.

At Toyo University, a doctoral degree thesis (KOU) is rigorously reviewed according to the
following criteria.

1. The doctoral degree thesis should contribute to a modern management society, step into an
unexplored research area, provide new findings in the area, and have originality.
2. The doctoral degree thesis should reach a high degree of perfection and be supported by
coherent logic, as well as meet the requirements mentioned in item 1 above.
3. The relevant student who has submitted the doctoral degree thesis should be recognized to
have complete ability as a researcher, the sophisticated research capacity to play an active
role as an independent researcher, or the ability to perform highly specialized tasks
