Admissions Policy (Policy for New Students Acceptance)

  1. We seek students who:
    Embrace the changes that information and communications technologies are bringing to our society, which has become an internet society, and have interest and motivation to engage themselves in such developments;
  2. Accept the diversity of society that includes various values, interests and nationalities, and recognize and enhance their own value through interactions with others;
  3. Stay fearless in making mistakes and pursue everything positively and relentlessly;
  4. Possess mathematics and logical reasoning skills as basic academic skills necessary for their studies.

 

Curriculum Policy (Policy for Curriculum Development and Implementation)

  1.  For all students in their first and second academic year, education will be provided to obtain proficiency in the basics of computer science as a common infrastructure supporting society, knowledge of mathematical systems as a foundation for data science and AI, and necessary skills to communicate with people around the world.
  2.  For all students in their second academic year onwards, in order to nurture talent who can contribute to social innovation through information and communication technologies, lectures and exercises for acquiring practical skills will be provided as specialized study in five Information Course groups (Computer Systems, Computer Software, User Experience, Data Science and ICT Social Application) and two Networking Course groups (Community Formation and Business Building).
  3.   We emphasize project-based exercises, where students seek solutions to problems through teamwork. In particular, for students in their third academic year, a long-term exercise in forming a startup will be provided to learn hands-on networking with people from different specialty areas.
  4.   In their fourth academic year, students will engage in graduation research at their respective professors’ offices to learn about the latest research in their specialized field.
  5.   General Education Courses will be provided throughout the enrollment period so that students will obtain broad knowledge grounded in philosophy, the founding spirit of Toyo University.

 

Diploma Policy (Policy for Graduation Certification and Degree/Academic Degree Conferment)

This Faculty will certify graduation and award a bachelor’s degree to students who have met the designated requirements in terms of years and credits and who have acquired the following competencies:

  1.  Basic knowledge and skills in computer science as a common infrastructure supporting society, knowledge of mathematical systems as a foundation for data science and AI, and skills to communicate with people in different areas of specialty and with different cultural backgrounds;
  2.  Specialized knowledge and practical skills in two or more courses from the five Information Course groups (Computer Systems, Computer Software, User Experience, Data Science, ICT Social Application) and two Networking Course groups (Community Formation and Business Building), including one course from the Information Course group.
     
  3.  Skills and experience in working as a team with those in different fields of expertise or with different cultural backgrounds, identifying social issues, and contributing to solutions.
