Supporting advanced professionals who wish to continue learning: Using daily problems as educational materials

The Course of Education aims to support advanced professionals who wish to continue learning. The course comprises four main subject areas: School Education, Educational Psychology and Counseling, Lifelong Learning, and Special Needs Education.

Graduate students who have studied with us to date come from a truly diverse range of backgrounds and include kindergarten teachers, elementary, junior, and senior high school teachers, special needs school teachers, and university lecturers, as well as nurses, teachers at nursing schools, physiotherapists, NPO staff, personnel managers working in businesses, and community volunteers. These individuals have conducted practical research on issues that they faced at work, in the community, or in their lives, which helped them reconsider those problems and improve their circumstances. This is because when adults learn, daily problems are transformed into educational materials. Moreover, equipped with research accomplishments and skills for continuous learning, our graduates are reinvesting what they have learned in society.

The 21st century has been called the age of the fourth industrial revolution, symbolized by artificial intelligence and regenerative medicine. As you experience these unpredictable changes, we invite you to join a group of students from a diverse range of backgrounds, united by a common interest in education, to consider questions regarding why people learn, how people interact with society through learning, and what it means for humans to support one another and coexist.

Through the course, students can acquire a teacher’s license at the master's level for elementary schools, junior high schools, senior high schools, or special needs schools. Moreover, we conduct an entrance examination for working adults and classes are held both during the day and in the evening. The Course of Education supports professionals who wish to continue learning.

Overview of the Course

The course comprises four areas, School Education, Educational Psychology and Counseling, Lifelong Learning, and Special Support Education, and focuses on practical research in which students examine problems and questions related to their circumstances and workplaces and find solutions to improve them.

For teachers working at all levels of education, from preschool to higher education, and individuals involved in training juniors or employees in businesses and other workplaces, we have developed a mode of learning and class system through which you can continue researching and studying as you work.

Since April 2012, students have been able to acquire elementary school teachers’ licenses by taking the course.

We invite you to use the course to resolve various problems that arise at school or in the workplace while also taking the opportunity to acquire a teacher’s license at the master's level for elementary school, junior or senior high school, or special needs school.
