Visit by Chairperson and President of South Korea’s Dongguk University

On Wednesday, September 23,Chairperson Hwang Il-myeon and President Han Tae-sik of Dongguk University in South Korea paid a call on Toyo University’s President Makio Takemura.
In June 2015, when Dongguk University held an inauguration ceremony for its new chairperson and president, President Takemura attended the event to deliver a congratulatory address on behalf of partner institutes for international exchange. The chairperson and president have now returned the favor, visiting Toyo University to show their appreciation for President Takemura’s effort. At a meeting that also included a Toyo University vice president and teaching staff from the Faculty of Letters, the university representatives exchanged views on the current situation and future prospects of academic exchange between the two universities.
Since signing an academic exchange agreement with Dongguk University in 1995 and a student exchange agreement in 1996, Toyo University has been actively engaged in student exchanges with its South Korean counterpart. We have also held regular seminars to report on joint research projects, particularly in the field of Buddhism. We will further facilitate academic exchange and collaboration between the universities.
