Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Buckminsterfullerene

Professor Toru Maekawa, Director of the Bio-Nano Electronics Research Centre, gave a Plenary Lecture at an International Symposium organised by the Royal Society and the Royal Society of Chemistry, UK  on 15th and 16th July 2015 at the Burlington House in London.
Title of the plenary lecture: Soft matter science based on fullerene and carbon nano materials

The symposium was specially organised to celebrate “The 30th Anniversary of the Discovery of Fullerene”. Professor Maekawa was selected as one of the 14 Plenary Speakers from 9 countries.

The speakers discussed “The future of advanced carbon nano materials”, “The role of the government in the development of advanced science” and “The advanced education at universities” with 80 participants from 13 countries.

Please note that Sir Harry Kroto, Visiting Research of the Bio-Nano Electronics Research Centre and Visiting Professor of the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary New Science, received the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1996 for his discovery of fullerene.
