The courses offered at Toyo University are,as a general rule, taught in Japanese.
If students haven't passed Level 1 or Level 2 of the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), they must take Japanese Language / Culture Courses (NEST Program); 12 courses and 22 credits per annum. Students with advanced Japanese language proficiency are able to enroll in regular courses taught solely in Japanese.
Japanese language courses for exchange/ISEP students will be offered only at the Hakusan campus.
NOTE:
As most of you, the exchange/ISEP students, will most probably be required to take Japanese language courses at the Hakusan campus. Campuses is difficult and tiring for you. You can take the courses at the other campuses.Students will be responsible for expenses of commutiny pass. The other campus, Asaka, Kawagoe, Itakura are located in 1-2 hours by train from Tokyo. So, it is strongly advisable to choose only courses offered at the Hakusan campus when you select your courses.

However, if your Japanese proficiency level is evaluated to be high enough and you are not required to take any Japanese language course (Note that this is an extremely rare case and your Japanese language proficiency level will be determined when we give you a test upon your arrival.), you may want to choose courses offered at other campuses. However, again, always remember your residence is in Hakusan and you have to spend 1 or 2 hours to go and another 1 or 2 hours to return to Hakusan, which makes taking courses at other campuses not really a sensible choice.
