The faculty of Global Regional Study hosted Dr. Darla Deardorff, a Fulbright Specialist, as an invited researcher under the support of the Fulbright Specialist Program from December 2 to 13, 2018.
Dr. Darla K. Deardorff is Executive Director of the Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA), based in Durham North Carolina, USA, as well as where a research scholar at Duke University. A recipient of numerous awards, Dr. Deardorff has published widely on international education, intercultural competence and outcomes assessment. She has authored/edited 7 books and over 50 articles including The SAGE Handbook of Intercultural Competence (2009), the SAGE Handbook of International Higher Education (2012), Building Cultural Competence: Innovative Activities and Models (Stylus 2012), and Leading Internationalization (Stylus, 2018), among others.
During her stay at Toyo University, various programs were implemented with her, including a workshop with students on “Story Circle” on December 11, a seminar (webinar) to learn about a new innovative global network (ICC Global) that is affiliated with UNESCO and is focused on the development and assessment of intercultural competence worldwide on December 12.
