Outline for the Faculty of Human Life Design

 Educational Objectives

The Faculty of Human Life Design was established to support all people in fulfilling their lives and making the future life environment brighter. In this Faculty, the focus is on the concept of "Life Design", which aims to create quality of life, health, daily living, and living environment. To enrich people’s lives and environment in the 21st Century, the Faculty instructs students on how to become human resources with advanced specialties and comprehensive viewpoints through the acquisition of a wide range of knowledge and expertise.

 

Course Description

The Faculty of Human Life Design follows educational practices that respect individual characteristics, support human rights, and encourage better living and environment. Based on the key concepts such as "Living and Leisure", "Health and Sport", and "Environment and Creativity", students will study how to design a diverse and rich lifestyle.

In the Human Care and Support Course in the Department of Human Care and Support, students learn specifically how to deal with changes in life and health, which are likely to occur during a lifetime in the modern society where the diversification of lifestyle is increasing. In the Social Work and Child Care Course in the Department of Human Care and Support, students learn through practical sessions about the types of initiatives that are the most suitable for the creation of environments where children can smile and grow healthily. In the Department of Health Care and Sport, students learn how to maintain health in order to realize healthy and wealthy lifestyles. In the Department of Human Environment Design, students learn design methods for the living environment, architecture wherein all people can live comfortably and safely, and the daily supplies and tools for fulfilling a lifestyle.

The Faculty aims to educate students to become diverse human resources, who are creative and willing to take on the challenges of the future, notwithstanding the ever-changing, diverse modern society.

Human Care and Support Course

  Primary aim: To create a society where everybody can live safely
Students will study about ways to create a society wherein the disabled, the elderly, and anyone else can live comfortably wherever they wish to live. Students will learn about what social ties mean using high-level communication and care skills.

Social Work and Child Care Course

Primary aim: To promote children's happiness

Students will study how to support children's abundant growth and protect their lives, while trying to become an "expert in child support". Students will learn about children's social work, based on childcare and early childhood education, from wide and technical points of views.

Department of Health Care and Sports

Primary aim: To encourage people to be healthy through sports

Students will learn about sports as one way for people to maintain health in their lives, and also learn about effective health promotion which is appropriate for people.

Department of Human Environment Design

Primary aim: To design comfortable living environments

Students will study architecture, space, and products, and will also try to construct them. Students will learn to be equipped with techniques and creative ideas to produce "design which satisfies everyone.”
